Soundscapes from five southeast asian countries based entirely on field recordings and electronic manipulations of the respective national anthem of Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam.

This box has five 3"CDRs and each is based on a southeast Asian country. It incorporates field recordings, electronica and most important the national anthem of these countries (Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam). Some of the pieces were recorded at the Inoxzuhausemuseum in Berlin and some were re-worked later on. In the Thailand and Myanmar the mix is inside the use of field recordings and only partly the original anthem, which sound largely unprocessed, but in the ones from Campuchea and Vietnam the electronic processed part anthems form the backbone of the pieces and field recordings are used as icing on the cake. There is a great unified thing in all of these five pieces. This is I:Wound's most mature and best work to date!

i:wound's own blend of classicism and technology really is quite unique. Perhaps this really could be the sound of the new avant-garde? Voices very nearly emerge from the thick soup that makes up this soundscape - are they even voices? Perhaps not. Unusual and unexpectedly compelling work...
